It was quite funny when I found out our local Albertson's supermarket was having an 8 hour sale on Lobster tails. I planned to go there earlier than the time it started to see if I could get them before selling out. There's a boutique near there where they sell Nyx makeup and thought about looking to see if they carried any of the items I was wishing for the other day. They didn't. So instead I went back to Albertson's and there was about 40 minutes till the sale started. I shopped around. I was so influenced by ChefCaffy's youtube video on her Freestylin' Tiramisu that I had to buy the ingredients to make my own Tiramisu. So please, stay tuned for that! By the time, it was nearing the sale, I headed over to the Seafood station where a crowd had started to form. I was lucky to get ten Lobsters on sale. I was giddy like a child opening presents at Christmas.
Now you're probably wondering what this has to do with beauty. I have a habit whenever I shop at supermarkets for boxed juice or boxed milk, to see if it's been tampered with. I make sure to unscrew the cap to see if it's still sealed underneath. One time I was at the 99 cents store and thought of buying ground pepper until I decided to unscrew the top and found there was no sanitary seal. I have nothing against the 99 cents store to buy your groceries, but sometimes you just have to be weary. So after leaving Albertson's, I was thinking of heading home. Instead, I figured while I was out, I should stop by my local mall that was also close by. Entered the mall, and found the closest spot near the entrance underneath a tree of shade. My good friend who got me into beauty told me about a store there where they sell Nyx and elf, and a whole bunch of other cheap makeup and nail polish. I must admit that I've passed by there before and never really wanted to shop there because it looked so ghetto. Please, this is one of my many mistakes and I vow to never judge any place without looking inside first. If anything, just be cautious. Like today for example, I went inside and was enamored by the display of Nyx products. Although they could have been a little tidier, I found some of the products I wanted. They didn't have the Jumbo pencils in Black Bean or Milk. They didn't have my sailboat bronzer. They also didn't have their newest Fruity lipbalms, but that was kind of expected. They did have my blushes in Angel and Taupe. Please be weary of this too and luckily they're visable from outside the cover. They also had the lip lacquers! I was really excited by this. Probably a little too excited. I was looking at each color, and realized that the Coffee run color looked a little too pinky and glittery for me. Instead, I picked up Okie Dokie Artichokie, and the other one I had originally wanted Georgia peach.
Drove back home, and put my groceries away. Tidied up and ate my lunch. An hour had gone by and I finally had time to look at my products. The lip lacquers had price stickers on the side making them look like they were effectively sealed. It was too good to be true. I started peeling them off and when I opened it, they already looked like they have been touched. This really irritated me, and I thought long about going back to exchange them, but realized I would be wasting my time and it had already seemed like a while since I was just there. Now, in the future I just might consider going back depending on the situation. Instead I just took a Post It sheet of paper, ripped it up, and began to scrape off a layer of where it looked like they have been used.
The moral of my story is if you can, always check to make sure whatever you're buying is legit. Maybe I have a slight obsessive compulsiveness, but I also don't like picking up the first product I see. Whether it's a makeup brush or medicine, I almost always pick up the ones that are usually stocked in the back. Where they were least likely touched by anyone other than the stock worker.
