5.10.11 Carrying On

I've been on the hunt for a carry-on luggage. It's not like I go on much trips or anything, but when I went with my friends to Santa Barbara that one time, I felt the need for a carry-on. And not just some dull boring black canvas one, but something with at least, a little more.. pizzazz. Then I found one one night when I was out with the bf at Ross of all places. It was a lovely plain canvass chartreuse colored one. Something so bright, I would be able to spot it a mile away. That wasn't the only reason that made me want it, but the fact it was the color chartreuse, which I love. But it was pretty expensive at the time, and as a matter of factly, it's not even there anymore.

Tonight, I feel like I splurged. Feel like.. Actually, I feel like I splurged all weekend. Let me just say, I got great deals this weekend. But, even though I feel like I splurged, it was hardly one to begin with, because with tonight's buy, it was actually a gift from my bf. We were supposed to go to Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend, and this was planned months ago. The last couple of weeks have been uncertain because he was unsure if he had to go to Washington for work. And it's typical, his work always does this to him. Tease him until just a few days before he has to go. Then today I was in search for a briefcase I've been desperately needing. In my case, it needs to be specific. Not because of work, but because I want it to be a certain kind. One that I've been having a hard time trying to find. Instead, this afternoon, I discovered this carry-on, on sale on the Urban Outfitters site:

And, you know, it took me all day to realize I wanted this. I'm a cheapskate. I needed to find a coupon somewhere, but didn't find one. I realized I would want this if I were to still go to Vegas. And now it's come to the conclusion, that if I get this in time, I'm taking this with me, and therefore I'm going! I'm really excited for the nautical-ness of it and that fact that it's not some cheesy duffel where I could hardly fit anything in.

12.8.10 Missing the Days

Today I got lost in Point Loma, here in San Diego. Point Loma is a Harbor town here that's not too far from where I live (at least I tend to think it's not that far, but then hello, I got lost). It's past our Airport, and I think that because it's by the harbor, I've fallen in love again with all things nautical. This isn't a beauty related post, or a fashion one, but the fact that I wish I had a better camera with me. Because when I got lost, I ran into some of the most beautiful sites in San Diego I've ever seen.

I want to also mention that I have this crazy love for lighthouses. I think it began when I was just a child and seeing the Lighthouse of Alexandria in my old Childcraft books about the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world. In fact, all the Ancient wonders in my Childcraft books made them incredibly idyllic. I always dreamed to one day see the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and then soon realized it didn't exist anymore. Ahh, nostalgia.

So anyways, I fell in love with the ocean again, and I wish my pictures captured what I had just seen better. But then, as for right now, I'll be in and out of Point Loma for a little bit, so I'm lucky to see the sites and take in the views.

11.3.2010 Beauty.. Wish List

Even though it feels like fire season in August here in Southern California, I love the Santa Ana heat we're having. It feels like the weather we're having right now is making up for a summer we missed out on. I feel like I talk a lot about the weather on here, but to be honest, I really like the summer season. Ugh, okay, anyway.

This is a wish list post, a visual list of things I want and what I plan on getting soon. There are some I didn't add to the pictures above which are just Nyx Jumbo Pencils in Black Bean and Milk, and what is not a Nyx product but an asian one that I mentioned earlier and are the Velcro pads that are supposed to pull your hair back when applying makeup. So today I was putting together a Nyx wish list when I went back on the site and saw a bronzer powder with a sailboat on it. I love all things nautical and Americana. One of my absolute favorite things about American nostalgia are lighthouses. But mostly the ones on the east coast that are big, bold, and by the sea. I love them. I'm rambling..

The other items by Nyx I plan on finding soon are the Lip Lacquers in Georgia Peach and maybe Coffee Run. If they're really nice, I might collect them all. I'm planning on finding that light pink blush in Angel and the contour color in Taupe. I also fell for their cute newest lipglosses in fruity containers. They look like those Asian lip balms that are 8 bucks for one fruit balm. The Nyx set for all four is only 9 dollars! Looks like a good steal.
