9.30.10 Beauty

I'm so excited for my latest purchase. I ordered this e.l.f 100 palette last night and obviously didn't get it yet, but I have and use some of their shadows and know they have good pigmentation for a great price. I've only recently just got into makeup and for some time I really thought about buying Coastal Scents 88 palettes, or some other multi colored palette for whatever use. When I watch some makeup collection videos I'm surprised by the ridiculous obsession some people have. Makes me look so lenient. Something that I do secretly want though is the Urban Decay Naked Palette. And I'll probably buy it when they get them back in stock in stores again. At my age, neutral eyes is something I pretty much only want. There was a Lorac one I wanted called Color me Couture, but it only comes with five neutral colors for 37 dollars! Whereas the Naked Palette has at least 12 colors, a primer potion and eyeliners for just a few dollars more. For now, there are so many in the elf one I just got that I find this a good buy.

9.29.10 - Beauty

I've been looking for a cup for sometime to hold my dirty makeup brushes. I didn't want just any cup. I wanted something that looked anthropological. Something to match the one I hold my clean makeup brushes in. I love Anthropologie but have only started shopping there when I can afford it. I really felt their pink glasses would compliment my teal green mug, but at the same time I felt like I could find those anywhere. Thrift stores, or use some kind of found object somewhere. But my semi-dirty makeup brushes have been piling and I felt I needed to go find a new one soon. I went to Marshall's yesterday and found this tall purple one for a total of only 3.25. Similar to the Anthropologie one in blue with it's bubbly design. And then I got home and realized I might need another cup, one that'll fit my smaller makeup brushes.

9.28.10 Statement rings

I read an article one time in a fashion magazine I can't remember of Ally Hilfiger talking about what she feels is fashion forward right now and one of them are statement rings. I love Ally Hilfiger's style and so when I saw this, I thought this was something that sounded cool and something I wanted to get into. It probably also didn't help that one of my favorite beauty bloggers/youtubers is this girl name Belledujournyc and she has this awesome Marc Jacobs ring that is only 11 dollars and that you can only get at Marc by Marc Jacob stores. It breaks my heart that we don't have one here.

Anyway, so I went to H&M last night and found this combo set of gold and silver ornament rings for only 5.95! From the way they look and feel, it's obviously something that is not gold or silver and you wouldn't really want to get it wet for too long unless you want it faded white or something like that, but for 5.95 for a set of rings that will enhance your outfit and make all the drinks you drink look extra enviable, these are it.

9.28.10 - Summer's Arrival pt. 2

A few of my favorites from Joel Meyerowitz's, A Summer's Day. I know there are other photographers out there, amazing ones, even ones that continue on film photography, but there are a few artists' prints and paintings I will always admire. These are some of them. These are the ones I like to look back on and feel like I'm there by the sea. In the east coast, where Palm Trees are kept hidden.

And I'll always dream of a porch I'd build into an art studio surrounded by a forest of inspiration like in the last picture. Right now, on the hottest day it's been since 1963, (according to the news of course), this is what I long for.

9.26.10-9.27.10 Summer's Arrival

Summer's finally arrived here in San Diego. At least the feeling of it. Today was the hottest it's ever been here according to the news, and tomorrow, they say is going to be even hotter. I'm happy to say I got a lot of use of old summer clothes I hid away this past weekend. However, I haven't been to the beach once. And I love the beach. Earlier this morning, I pulled out one of my favorite photography books A Summer's Day by Joel Meyerowitz. I think I grew to love taking pictures since I saw this book when I was working in my Junior HS library. I'm not a photographer but I'd like to be and I like learning to be. In no particular order are some of my favorite pictures I took over the summer.

Bruschetta I made after being inspired by the movie, Julie & Julia.

The drive back home from Santa Barbara last May.

Last night's soiree.

End of summer picnic at the Farmer's Market.

Projects I'm getting into.

My first vegan cheesecake that I made using Alicia Silverstone's A Kind Diet recipe. Soo good!

My puppy, Porkchop whose picture was actually taken by my boyfriend seeing a bit of his shoe in the bottom, but I love it nonetheless.

09.25.10 - Vacation Time?

I got into watching beauty tutorials on youtube recently and found some users calling themselves with Mac pigment names. I realized last night after looking at my nails that Vacation Time by Sinful Colors was probably my favorite color. Of all time maybe. Two days ago I was looking at Lauren Conrad's Twitter and saw she posted a picture of her leopard print nails: http://twitpic.com/2q7nem
I must say that I felt compelled to do the same. I was inspired most of all by my friends. Who got me into beauty and to being extra creative.

Here I used Vacation Time by Sinful Colors as the undercoat, a white french manicure polish for the spots and Black by Art Deco Nails as the, well, the black parts. I need to redo my nails actually. I love the youthful feeling these leopard print nails give and I think it's because of the soft pink and not your typical goldish brown color as the undercoat. I also applied a basecoat and topped it with a clear topcoat. I really want to buy Seche Vite now. And if you don't know what that is, then start watching beauty videos.

09.24.10

First post. I was thinking my header looks a bit cutesy for what I was going for. But then again, I don't know what kind of blog this will be.
